The far end of the Rainbow

Wild horses running over the expanse of green,
A plate of strawberries topped with cream,
A warrior's nightmare, a philosopher's dream,
At the far end of the rainbow

A smiling damsel, beautiful and fair,
A laughter in the wind without a care,
A mouse in the trap, a lion in his lair,
At the far end of the rainbow

The man of wisdom having his fits,
Angry eyes narrowed to slits,
A broken heart shredded to bits,
At the far end of the rainbow

Peace, harmony and every other wish,
Mom's cooking and your favourite dish,
A clear ocean and the golden fish,
At the far end of the rainbow

A man walking the path, brave and bold,
Defying all wisdom, new and old,
Single minded focus on his pot of gold,
At the far end of the rainbow

10 days later......

I walked through the door,
Head bent, staring at the floor.
When I looked up,
My head spun and I could think no more.

There she stood, as radiant as ever,
Each tress of her flowing hair,
Glowing in the morning sun.

Each day away is an era itself,
Survival is not an option,
Its the problem itself.
Yet I struggle on,
Holding on to bits,
Hope springs eternal,
Even in the darkest of pits.

Here, there, everywhere.
Always so near, yet so far.
Looking forward, I am scared,
Thinking thoughts I haven't dared

Yet she makes my present beautiful,
With her there is no pain,
No sadness, no fear
All my troubles seem to disappear.

So I try and live for the present,
Without any joy and without any tear,
As she walks up to me and
says Happy New Year

The Shelter in the Storm

This poem is for my friend who has helped me through my lowest of lows.....

The sky darkens, the clouds block out the sun
The wind starts to blow and the child starts to run
The beach is desolate,
Nowhere to hide, nowhere to turn
The sea becomes a churn
Scared, the child begins to cry
All he needs is a place which is dry

A figure approaches from beyond yonder
The child looks up to him in wonder
His face has God's grace in it,
With his smile the entire beach is lit,
His words are wise and hug is warm
He is the shelter in the storm

When in doubt
When in fear
When you need someone near
When nothing seems clear
When you need someone to wipe that tear
When your heart is torn
He is the shelter in the storm

The child fumbles for a single word
The gratitude in his heart may never be heard
But he would not have seen the morn
Had there not been
The shelter in the storm

Walk Alone

Smile in joy, and also in pain,
For without either there is no gain,
Yet you will not heed words that are mine,
You will walk alone on the sands of time

Feel alone in solace and also in company,
Hear everything in silence and also in cacophony,
Yet you will not heed words that are mine,
You will walk alone on the sands of time

See everything in light and also in the dark,
For your arrows always hit their mark,
Yet you will not heed words that are mine,
You will walk alone on the sands of time

Touch the tangible and also the intangible,
Be wary of the world for you are gullible,
Yet you will not heed words that are mine,
You will walk alone on the sands of time

Walk alone, Walk alone
Walk alone on the sands of time

When she ignores you

When calls don't work,
When all you get is a smirk,

When you try day and night,
Though you put forth all your might,

When you feel lost and hurt,
You end up feeling like dirt,

When she ignores you.

You turn and toss in bed,
Wishing you could be dead,

You try to keep your cool,
But you feel like a fool,

You dream about her often,
Wishing that she would soften,

When she ignores you.

Oh for that one smile,
You would walk a mile,

For a glimpse of her face,
You would quit any race,

For her one word,
No one else is heard,

When she ignores you.

I am Joshua

Waiting for an age to enter into
So reckless, so desperate
The walls of Jericho are strong indeed
But the Lord will help you in your need

They think the city cannot be breached
But the shofar will rent the air
And under the strains of my music
Your walls will come crashing down

So Joshua will enter Jerusalem,
Your heart is Jerusalem
and I am Joshua.

I can't breathe

The eyes are a whirlpool of beauty
The smile would outshine even the sun
The hair are waves of delight
Sometimes she looks like starlight

There is poise, there is grace
I cant keep my eyes off that face
God's light has been bestowed upon her

It is a symphony rivalling Mozart
My heart cringes every time we have to part

My heart is gone
It didn't even say goodbye
So funny is my irony
That all I can do is smile

My dreams are all taken by her
Many times I wake up shaken
Thinking about her I realize,
I can't breathe
